Joe Mohen, Chairman
Joe Mohen has developed Internet systems and software packages with cumulative sales of more than $1 billion dollars. As founding CEO of Election.com, Inc., the first global Internet election company, Mr. Mohen became known in the software and Internet industries as both a visionary and leader. Mr. Mohen led election.com to an extremely successful round of start-up funding, which includied an equity stake from VeriSign, and from other strategic investors worldwide. Under his leadership, election.com conducted the world’s first legally binding public elections over the Internet, which included the Arizona Democratic Primary. Election.com expanded to seven countries during its first two years of operation. He has received extensive press coverage from international media including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Business Week, ABC, CBS, NHK Japan, BBC, and MTV. Mr. Mohen is also the founder of ParishPay, a fully automated Internet payment system which has dramatically improved financial operations for religious organizations. He served as CEO of Proginet Corporation from 1991 thru 1996, which he founded in 1986. Mr. Mohen managed key strategic alliances with IBM, Novell, and Microsoft, the latter two included equity participation. He led the company through a multi-jurisdictional initial public offering in May of 1995, after which the company’s share price tripled. He is a member of Legatus, the organization of Catholic CEOs, the National Association of Recording Industry Professionals, and a former member and blue ribbon committee member of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Mel Schrieberg, Chief Executive Officer
Mel has twenty-four years of successful general management experience in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. He is very well-versed in strategically positioning a company for accelerated growth. He has primarily worked for five companies: Xerox, ROLM, IBM, ADP, and Election Services Corporation. His work has involved major profit and loss responsibility, bringing new technology to the marketplace and managing a large global organization.
Mel was the recent Chairman and CEO of Election Services Corporation (ESC), the preeminent election services company in the world. Prior to founding ESC in 1999, Mel was co-founder and President/COO of Election.com. During his tenure, the Company achieved triple-digit revenue growth. The firm had the distinction of conducting the world's first legally binding publicly-held Internet election - The Arizona Presidential Primary for the Democratic Party - and the world's first international Internet election - ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). Election.com was selected as one of the "top 50 privately held companies in the world" by Red Herring magazine and was selected as one of "the top 25 companies changing the world" by Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Earlier, Mel worked for: Automatic Data Processing (ADP) as a Corporate Vice President, he built and managed their National Accounts Division with a revenue responsibility of $475 million; IBM as Eastern Region Manager with a revenue responsibility of $1.1 billion, this entity was the top region in the country; prior to that, he was a Director of Strategic and Organizational Planning; ROLM Corporation, a leading global telecommunication company, as President of their New York Operating Company, this entity was the top operating company in the country; and Xerox Corporation, where he held many senior line and staff management positions.
Jerome N. Gold, Director
Mr. Gold is Senior Managing Director of Corporate Finance/Restructuring at FTI Consulting Inc. within FTI's Transaction Advisory Services group, residing in the Los Angeles office. In this role, Mr. Gold advises clients on financial, operational and commercial issues relating to acquisition and divestiture transactions, with an emphasis on the media industry. He joined the company after serving as chief financial officer at Platinum Equity LLC, a private equity firm specializing in leveraged buyouts and operating acquired portfolio companies. At Platinum Equity, Mr. Gold supervised the financing of acquisitions and was responsible for maintaining relationships with limited partners, banks and other financial institutions. He was also responsible for refinancing the firm's acquisitions with both bank and high yield debt, and instituting appropriate budget and forecasting models for portfolio companies.
Prior to this, Mr. Gold served as Chief Financial Office of Warner Music Group for nine years beginning in 1992 where he was responsible for financial reporting, budgets and accounting, capital expenditures, strategic planning, administration, acquisitions and joint ventures. Prior to Warner Music Mr. Gold was a partner at Ernst & Young, where he managed the global media and entertainment practice and M&A during nearly three decades with the firm. Most recently, he was managing director of his own consulting firm, Gold International, which specialized in advisory and M&A services for media, entertainment and communications.
Mr. Gold attended Baruch College at City University New York and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Robert N. Gordon, Director
Robert Gordon is a Principal in Strategic Horizons, Inc., a boutique management consulting firm dedicated to providing high-quality organizational, communication, and strategic guidance to companies and their executives. He has over 15 years experience with the Myers-Briggs methodology, using it to help executives identify their personal strengths and appreciate differences in communication and management style. Client companies range from Fortune 500 manufacturers to family businesses and start-ups, in industries ranging from healthcare to technology to financial services, wherever and whenever companies need a fresh perspective on their organization. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gordon was a technology line manager at Salomon Brothers. In addition to his work in advanced technology at Salomon, he spent several years managing large-scale projects for Silicon Valley companies. While advancing his career in business and technology, Bob began to pursue his longtime interest in psychology, obtaining a master’s degree in counseling from Long Island University and training for eight years as a psychoanalyst at the NPAP Training Institute in New York.
Al Hughes, Director
Al Hughes, President and Chief Technical Officer of Axis Group, is responsible for the strategic vision, direction, and day-to-day leadership of the company. Al founded Axis Group in 1996 with the vision of leveraging business intelligence tools to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to the management and operational reporting needs of companies.
Axis has a well-established reputation for deploying leading-edge enterprise BI solutions for its clients. Under Al's leadership, Axis has provided strategy, education, architecture, customized training and deployment of enterprise reporting, data warehouse/data marts, OLAP, data exchange and transformation, and web-based applications. In 2001, Inc. Magazine and the Inc. 500 named Axis as one of the fastest growing private company in the United States.
Before founding Axis, Al was a Partner with Strategic Network Designs, the Director of Professional Services for Eicon Technology and was a consultant for Booz, Allen & Hamilton. He has more than 20 years experience with computer technology and systems, including business intelligence, database, web, networking, client/server and mainframe technologies. Al has degrees in Computer Science and Economics from Rutgers University.
Mark Hutchens, Director
Mark Hutchens has been involved with the Enterprise Software industry since the mid 70’s. Mark was founder and CEO of his own company Insession, an IBM and Tandem Enterprise Class System Software Company, and grew it from inception to sale.
Mark’s experience includes establishing businesses in several countries around the world, and he is an expert in the economics and advantages of leveraging offshore resources. During his career Mark has raised many millions of dollars for his own and other companies, as well as formed relationships with large vendors such as Tandem, TSA and IBM and their customers.
After starting out on the technical side of the business with Price Waterhouse and working in this capacity in Australia and the UK Mark moved to the vendor side with MSA (Management Science America) where he had a highly successful career in sales. Having a skill for survivability Mark’s preference has always been small company chaos and prior to Insession Mark led the AustraliAsian arm of Netlink a VC backed company based in Raleigh NC. Recently Mark helped capitalize and form Radiant Data in Boulder, CO.
Mark is also on the board of an emerging non profit Jazz education company IJamJazz based in Boulder.
Jordan Levin, Director
Recognized for his deeply nuanced and renowned understanding of young adults, Jordan Levin brings two decades of experience in entertainment to Generate, a media development and talent management company that produces branded entertainment for the multiple distribution platforms embraced by Millennials. Levin spent the last decade launching, building and branding The WB broadcast network culminating with his appointment as the youngest CEO in broadcast television history. Levin, who replaced television visionary Jamie Kellner as CEO of The WB, joined the network before its January 1995 launch as part of the founding executive team and rose through the programming ranks to become President, Entertainment by the time he was 33. At The WB, Levin’s was instrumental in establishing the network’s distinctly youthful brand identity through the development of hit shows for young adults and family.
Mr. Levin’s partnerships with every major Hollywood studio propelled more series into the syndication marketplace during his tenure than any other network. His media buying relationships led to groundbreaking deals with blue-chip advertisers creating innovative, brand-integrated programs and new programming alliances. An example includes partnering with the Family Friendly Forum to establish their inaugural script development fund whose first, and biggest, success story is the “Gilmore Girls.”
Prior to the WB, Mr. Levin was a member of the creative team that revitalized the Disney brand in network television through family and young adult, television programming. In 2004, Levin stepped behind the camera to make his directorial debut on an episode of the award-winning, dramatic series “Everwood”. He is currently a member of the DGA. Levin’s skill in programming responsible and meaningful television for a young adult audience has resulted in industry-wide recognition, including being named the 2004 Television Executive of the Year by The Caucus For Television Producers, Writers and Directors, being featured on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s 2003 “Leadership in Hollywood” issue, receiving the University of Texas’ College of Communication’s Alumnus of the Year award in 2002 and the University Alumni Organization’s Outstanding Young Texas-Ex award in 2004, as well as being honored by Girls Inc. and the Los Angeles Free Clinic, of which he is a current member of the Board of Directors. Many businesses and non-profits tap his expertise as Mr. Levin sits on numerous Boards including Matinee Media, the Austin Film Society and the UT Film Institute while having consulted for the Clinton Foundation, ad-agency GSD&M, Internet powerhouse eBay and Moderati/Faith West, a leading multimedia mobile content company.
Amir Khan, Director
Mr. Khan has been a director since April 18, 2007. Mr. Khan is the portfolio member of 3V Capital Management, a Greenwich, Connecticut based hedge fund, a position he has held since March 2007. Between August 2004 and March 2007, Mr. Khan was the chief operating officer for Libertas Partners, a Greenwich, Connecticut based broker-dealer. Between February 2001 and August 2004, Mr. Khan was the chief operating officer for Debttraders, Inc., a New York, New York based broker-dealer. Mr. Khan holds a Bachelors degree in chemical engineering, a Masters of Business Administration and is a Certified Financial Analyst.
Thomas J. Mackell, Jr., Ed.D, Director

Dr. Mackell is an advisor and consultant in the employee benefits field in the private and public sectors with broad experience in the maritime, transportation, and steel industries and in health care, public safety, and financial services.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University and attended St. John’s University School of Law. He earned a master’s degree from Long Island University and a doctorate from Rutgers University. He holds Series 6 and 63 securities licenses.
Dr. Mackell is a member of the Inter-American Dialogue and a director of the Foundation for Fiduciary Studies. He was also Vice Chair of the ERISA Advisory Council to the Secretary of Labor in 1999, Chair of the Council’s 1998 Small Business Working Group, and Vice Chair of the Council’s 1997 Defined Contribution/Defined Benefit Plan Working Group.
Dr. Mackell is president of the Association of Benefit Administrators and editor of its newsletter, Insights. He is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Investment Management Consultants Association, a member of the International Foundation for Employee Benefit Plans, a past member of the board of the American Benefits Council, and a member of the advisory boards of the Development Corporation for Israel and the National Association of Corporate Directors. He was a director of the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives and a trustee of the New York Foundation.
He spent 14 years with the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association as Administrator of their jointly-administered trust funds and has spent the last 25 years in the investment management business working with Taft-Hartley, public and corporate pension funds and endowments and foundations on asset allocation and corporate governance issues.
In addition, Dr. Mackell was a professor at C.W. Post Center, Long Island University’s School of Health and Public Affairs, and adjunct professor at the New York Institute of Technology Graduate Center for Labor and Industrial Relations School of Management, where he was also a member of the institution’s advisory board. He is a member of the Council on American Politics at the George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. He is a member of the advisory board of Empire State College and is a past member of the advisory boards of St. Thomas University School of Law and the Corsi Institute of Labor-Management Relations of Pace University.
Dr. Mackell has been a Class C director since January 1, 2003, and deputy chairman since June 2003. He was designated chairman on January 1, 2005.
Steve Norcia, Director
Steve Norcia is currently founder and principal of Topsail Group, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in: creating external and internal branding programs; building teamwork, and solving problems in communications and advertising.
Steve is an experienced global advertising executive having spent most of his career with large communications agencies. He has run high visibility advertising accounts such as Coca-Cola, IBM, Citibank, Digital Equipment, Nabisco, and Bank of New York. Steve has been involved in some of the most important new products and branding assignments ever introduced, such as Miller Lite, Diet Coke, Amstel Light, SONY Walkman and the IBM ThinkPad. Steve has also run large complex organizations such as McCann-Erickson NY (Interpublic), Doyle Dane Bernbach NY (Omnicom), and Earle Palmer Brown-North.
Steve is also a seasoned business development executive, having led teams to win business from companies such as SONY, IBM, Compaq and Lockheed Martin. Most recently, Steve was in the Internet consulting business at AGENCY.COM (Omnicom). Steve combines understanding how complex advertising media decisions are made today with how start-up Internet firms conduct business.
Steve believes all employees must internalize the brand value proposition for a company to be effective at external branding, and has always been involved with building effective teams and the mentoring and training of his co-workers. As a long time adjunct professor at both Fordham University and Iona College, he has brought these marketing and advertising skills to the classroom.
Steve is also on the board of the Advertising Educational Foundation and is a member of the University of Connecticut Marketing Alumni Board. He was an Army officer in the 101st Airborne Division.
Frances W. Preston, Director
Frances Preston served as President and CEO of BMI from 1986 to 2004, during which time the company's revenue grew more than three times to over $650 million. She is currently a consultant to BMI, serving on that organization’s Board of Directors. A Fortune magazine profile of the music industry called her “one of the true powerhouses of the pop music business.” She is a well-known figure on Capitol Hill, frequently testifying in support of creators’ rights, and has made BMI a key member of the wide-ranging alliance debating the public policy issues of the digital age. Ms. Preston joined BMI in 1958 after working in the music and broadcasting industries in Nashville.

Ms. Preston serves on the Recording Academy’s President’s Advisory Council and on the board of directors for the Grammy Foundation. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame, a Board Member of the Rhythm & Blues Foundation, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the National Music Museum (DC) and a past member of the National Advisory Board of the George Foster Peabody Awards.
Scott Stagg, Director
Mr. Stagg has been a director since April 18, 2007. Mr. Stagg is the managing member of 3V Capital Management, a Greenwich, Connecticut based hedge fund, a position he has held since July 2003. Between April 2003 and December 2005, Mr. Stagg was the director of research for Libertas Partners, a Greenwich, Connecticut based broker-dealer. Between February 2002 and February 2003, Mr. Stagg was an executive director at UBS Asset Management. Mr. Stagg received his Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York in 1984 and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago in 1993.
Mark Strama, Director
Mark Strama is a member of the Texas House of Representatives. After defeating an incumbent by fewer than 600 votes in 2004, Mark recently won re-election from his Austin-area district with 62% of the vote.
Representative Strama was founder and CEO of NewVoter.com, the first company to enable voters to fill out a voter registration form online.
NewVoter.com was acquired by Election.com, and helped over 700,000 Americans register to vote during the 2000 election cycle. Previously, Mark was Director of Programs at Rock the Vote, a non-profit voter registration campaign sponsored by the music industry and MTV. Mark served as chief of staff to Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis from 1991 through 1995, and also served on the staff of Ann Richards' successful 1990 campaign for Governor of Texas.
